Megan and I were walking in a Macy’s store and a woman stopped us. She gave us a free sample of Usher’s new perfume. We took the sample trying not to be rude, and it gave me the idea for this ad journal.
I couldn’t find the commercial for Usher’s actual ad just for the perfume, but i found this one that talks about Usher’s new fragrances. His new perfume is called Usher and it is a purple black color. I smelt the fragrance and said, “This is why men don’t design fragrances for women.”
P. Diddy or Diddy or whatever he is called nowadays has also made a fragrance for women. It is called ‘unforgivable woman.’ When I heard this I was shocked! What woman wants to say, “Oh I want to smell like an unforgivable woman?” I thought about this and I didn’t understand why men would be making perfumes for women. They have no idea what we really want, because they are not women.
It reminded me of the reading we had about women paying more attention to ads with women and men paying attention to ads with men in it. We like ads that relate to us. I know men have their way they like women to smell, but it is not the same as how women want to smell. I do not think that men should be making fragrances for women.
I also believe that all these celebrities “creating” fragrances is ridiculous. There are so many celebrities that have their own fragrances, Mariah Carey, J-lo, Hilary Duff, Usher, Diddy….etc. I hate that they say I “created” this fragrance. I’m pretty sure they don’t understand the chemical makeup of the fragrance the atoms, their reactions or anything. I hate that all these celebrities can make everyone else do the work of mixing the right chemicals to make this fragrance, put their name on it, get credit for it, and add fifty dollars extra to the price tag.
I respect other companies that started from the bottom up and give the whole company credit for the fragrance. It requires the whole company to make the fragrance so they all should get credit, not just one celebrity with their name on the packaging.
